LAD Light-activated disinfection
LAD is also called PDT for antimicrobial photodynamic therapy.
It is a combination treatment using light and a photoinitiator that can absorb energy from a specific wavelength of light, releasing this energy as reactive oxygen compounds. Because the photoinitiator – binds to the surface of the bacteria, the oxygen compounds kill them instantly.
